Expense tracker for Android

Your bank already told you where it went.

AutoHisaab reads the bank and UPI messages already on your phone, sorts a month of spending without you typing a thing, and keeps the original SMS attached to every entry — so you can always see where a number came from.

The proof screen

Every field, traced back to the sentence it came from.

Most trackers give you a number and ask you to trust it. AutoHisaab keeps the message verbatim and highlights the exact words behind each value. Tap or hover a field to find it.

Setup takes a minute

Three taps to a sorted month.

  1. 1

    Allow SMS access

One Android permission. AutoHisaab only keeps messages that look like bank, card, UPI or wallet alerts.

  2. 2

    Fetch this month

Your inbox becomes a list of transactions: amount, merchant, account and category, already filled in.

  3. 3

    Correct it once

Fix a category and the app remembers that merchant — for the whole history, and for every future message.

What it does

Built for how money actually moves in India.

Categories that learn

A bundled merchant map labels Swiggy, Uber or Indian Oil on day one. Your corrections override it permanently and back-fill every past transaction from that merchant.

Categories screen listing Food & Dining, Groceries, Transport, Shopping and more

Refunds, matched

A refund is tracked against the purchase it came back from, not counted as income — so your spending figure stays honest.

Live capture

Turn it on and new alerts are recorded as they arrive. Or fetch a month, or scan any date range, whenever you like.

Nothing silently dropped

Messages the parser couldn't read go to a Skipped log, so you can see a miss instead of wondering about one.

Cash, too

Add a cash spend by hand in a few taps. It sits alongside the SMS entries in every total.

App lock

Lock the app behind your fingerprint or screen lock, and keep it blank in the recent-apps switcher.

Your data, portable

Full JSON backup with every original message, or CSV for a spreadsheet. Restore on a new phone in one step.

Inside the app

Where your data stays

  • No server.
  • No upload.
  • No account required.

It can't leak what it never sent.

Your messages are parsed on the phone and saved in a database on the phone. There is no AutoHisaab backend — not for storage, not for analytics, not for anything.

The app goes online only for optional sign-in, ads, the Remove Ads purchase and Play Store updates. None of those requests contain an SMS or a transaction.

Questions

Before you install.

Is there an iPhone version?
No, and there can't be. iOS gives apps no way to read SMS, on any version. AutoHisaab is Android only (Android 6.0 and up).
Does my SMS or spending data leave my phone?
No. Messages are read and parsed on the device and stored in a local database. There is no AutoHisaab server to send them to. The privacy policy lists every network call the app makes, and none of them carry your messages or transactions.
Do I need an account?
No. “Continue without an account” is a full path, and every feature works on it. An optional email sign-in exists for identity only — your transactions are never attached to it.
Is it free?
Yes. The app shows a small banner and the occasional full-screen ad, never in the first couple of minutes after you open it. If you'd rather not see them, a one-time ₹150 purchase turns ads off for good.
Which banks does it understand?
Indian bank, card, UPI and wallet alerts in rupees — HDFC, ICICI, SBI, Axis, Kotak, PhonePe, Paytm and others. OTPs, promotions, failed payments and mandate notices are recognised and ignored.
What if it misses a transaction?
Messages that look financial but couldn't be parsed go to a Skipped log instead of disappearing, so a miss is visible. You can also add cash spends by hand.
Can I back up or move my data?
Yes. Export a full JSON backup — including the original SMS behind every entry — and restore it on another phone, or export CSV for a spreadsheet.
